[Olav] & Princess [Martha] of Norway arrive by boat.

Sunday April 30—Norway leaves by motor about 10.30 a.m. for West Point.

motor N.Y. to open Fair in p.m. After that FDR either returns H.P. to welcome the Danes

[Crown Prince Frederik and princess Ingrid of Denmark] or goes by train to Washington to

receive them there.”

Little more than a year after the opening of the 1939World’s Fair, Princess Martha of Norway

and her family returned to America as refugees, because her own country had been invaded and

occupied by the Nazis.
