64 elaborately printed commemora-

tive post cards, celebrating Lincoln’s

100th birthday and the Emancipation

Proclamation.

Color-printed, mostly

embossed post cards, some with writing,

condition generally fine.

Vp, Germany, London, etc. 1909

[2,000/3,000]

A RARE AND EXCEPTIONAL GROUPING OF

ELABORATE TESTIMONIALS TO ABRAHAM

LINCOLN

,

POSSIBLY UNIQUE

.

Provenance:

Gordon Bleuler collection to the present owner.

It is unusual to see more than a handful of

these beautiful postcards at any one time, and

given the nature of their printing they are often

in less than “collectible” condition. A great

many of these were custom-made in Germany

for companies like Raphael Tuck London; or

the Washington News Company that had

theirs made in Dresden. The Germans were

the leading houses for greeting cards and other

paper novelties.
