and noting the terms of sale. 1 page, square 8vo; staining at points along left edge with

minor loss at middle and lower left edge, docketing verso, folds with horizontal one

dozen, 35 Maps of the Southern States a 2/, Deduct one seventh of those which are sold, for

Commission. . . . [P]ay his charge of one advertisement only, which is all I requested him to

insert.”

articles and comparing them to another Low wrote. 3 pages, 8vo, written on a folded

sheet; faint scattered staining to first page, docketing along top edge of first page in an

unknown hand.

I have read all these articles with interest & admiration.They are good but variegated[?]— . . . .

not quite in the vein of happy portraiture you have struck in the Rhodes. Mostly they . . . are

observations.What struck me about the Rhodes was that it was a complete exhaustive impression. . . .

You play the artist & get at the bowels of the thing. For the most part with these other articles you

don’t do that. . . . I hope to goodness you’ll let yourself out again soon.”
