pencil in unknown hand mostly in upper margin (affecting place and date), small hole at

I value very much the 34th reg’t . . . book, which I owe to your exertions. Curiously enough,

it contains a correspondence relating to the appointment of the present auditor Col. J[ohn] W.

Kimball as Postmaster of Fitchburg . . . .”
