Bircher was the pure product of the Kunstgewerbe School, where he both studied and went on to
teach. He was one of the leading designers of the Swiss school of typography, as can legibly be seen
here, in one of many posters he created for the Zurich Arts and Crafts Museum. He is best known for
designing the Swissair logo.
