and with Our prayerful good wishes that divine favor may ever attend them.”
In 1940, Franklin D. Roosevelt sent Taylor as his personal representative to the Vatican
“upon a noble mission of peace and healing, to seek with Us ways and means of giving back to
a warring world its rightful heritage of concord,” as described by Pope Pius in his letter to
President Roosevelt dated March 16, 1940.
