inches (54x64.1 cm.), flush mounted to a thick period

board. 1943; apparently printed in the 1960s

[8,000/12,000]

This image was revealed by Weegee’s assistant, Louie Liotta, to have been a set-up; the woman at

the far right of the frame, a regular at a Bowery bar, was brought to the Metropolitan Opera season

opener by George Washington Kavanaugh and Lady Decies, at Weegee’s request. An unusual

presentation for Weegee, this large print may have been used for exhibition purposes.
