each measuring approximately 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.), each with

Shore’s signature and the date, in ink, on verso; each print is

individually matted. Folio-sized blue cloth folding clamshell case with

a leather gilt-lettered title label; with a handwritten postcard from

Philippe de Montebello. 1977

Originally commissioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this

portfolio includes a handwritten postcard from Philippe de

Montebello, with a photomechanical image of Monet’s Water Lilies

on the front. It reads, “Dear Seymour, Please accept this album of

Stephen Shore’s photos of Giverny as a token of our appreciation for

your help on the Monet show,Yours, Philippe de Montebello.”
