The drawing is based on Gorey’s series of ballet
cats from “New York Kitty Ballet,” a group of
3 images developed for the New York City
Ballet’s promotional merchandising.Accompanying
the “I Love Cats” drawing are two images from
the series (a single kitty en pointe, and a totem
of 6 dancers) each printed as a faint positive on
tracing paper as well as a set printed on thick
paper stock. A third image, a Pas de Deux, is
not included.
