lower right, signed in full vertically in left margin, dated 1979 in right margin. Matted in
window frame adjacent to printed invitation for which it was created, a holiday party for
Jay and Ellie Rutherfurd and signed by all their guests including Addams and Constantin
Alajalov. Some offsetting along edges of both pieces, horizontal crease below ink drawing;
invitation moderately foxed and toned.

The Rutherfurds were socialites and patrons of the arts and several charities, mainly in Southampton
and Palm Beach.They were friends with Addams and Alajalov, among many NewYork City artists
and illustrators.The invitation is for their December 21st 1979 “Christmas Holiday Feast” and
Addams has drawn for it a Christmas tree adorned with the faces of each Addams family member.
