This enigmatic and expressive collage is a strong example of the work of this distinguished Atlanta
painter and educator. Born in Franklin, GA, LarryWalker studied atWayne State University, Detroit,
earning a BS in art education in 1958, and an MA in drawing and painting in 1963.Walker was a
professor of drawing and painting in the Department of Art, University of the Pacific, Stockton,
CA, from 1964-1983, and then at the School of Art and Design, Georgia State University, Atlanta
from 1983-2000. His paintings have been exhibited in many solo and group exhibitions over a four
decade career—most recently in solo exhibitions at Sande Webster Gallery, Philadelphia and the
Huntsville Museum, Huntsville, AL. His work is in such institutional collections as the Paul Jones
Collection at the University of Delaware, the Huntsville Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of
Art, Florida A&M University, the African American Museum, Dallas, Clark Atlanta University,
Spelman College and Hammonds House Galleries, Atlanta.
