Dedication album belonging to Hon. Henry C. Loudenslager depicting San Francisco’s proposed
site for the Panama-Pacific Exposition, with 25 photographs by H.C. Tibbits. The purpose of the
album was to pitch S.F. as the ideal location for the world’s fair by showing how the city had bounced
back after the devastating earthquake of 1906.The introductory text mentions hotels that are “second
to none,” a “winter climate that is unrivaled,” and reclamation projects that will be “side-shows for
travelers.”With 14 depicting the metropolis’ busy downtown area, fashionable café and theatre
districts, its big business and banking buildings, colorful Chinatown, Golden Gate Park, plus the
handsomely designed Hotel St. Francis and Hotel Fairmont, and 11 of locales outside of the city,
such as Mt.Tamalpais andYosemiteValley. Platinum and/or silver prints, 6x8 inches (15.2x20.3 cm.),
each with a printed caption below the image area. 4to, gilt-lettered morocco, worn and chipped;
