An excellent photomontage of Swissair’s HB-ILA (a
Douglas DC-4
) soaring past “30 Rock,” in New
York City’s Rockefeller Center. The company began making regular flights to New York in 1947 and
purchased two
DC-6Bs
in 1951. This poster exists in several variants including an earlier version with
the Swissair logo in a different type face. The logo used on this poster was designed by Ruedi Bircher
in the 1950s. English version. Airways p. 130 (var).

Condition B+: minor repaired tears at edges, some slightly affecting image; creases through lower right
corner; abrasions in image.
A variant of this design with text overprinted in the tailfin was used several times in the late 1950s to
promote Swissair exhibitions. This
RARE
earlier version differs from the later printing in that it has the
silhouette of an aircraft at the top and a solid line that cuts vertically through the tailfin.
