In 1937, Kauffer designed six posters for Britain’s General Post Office, including a series of four called
Outposts of Britain
, to illustrate that the G.P.O. could reach anywhere in the country no matter how
isolated the destination. For each, Kauffer uses an asymmetrical graphic frame of primarily black and
blue into which he integrates black and white photographs. Kauffer 241, Modern British Posters p. 119.

Fraser was a prolific book illustrator, designing book jackets and posters, yet he may be best remem-
bered for his contributions to the
Radio Times
. In 1939, he created a series of four posters for Britain’s
General Post Office highlighting “The History of Communication.”
