Baumberger was one the most prolific and versatile Swiss graphic designers. His posters switched nim-
bly between near photographic representations of objects via the
Neue Sachlichkeit
, minimal
typographic creations, abstract and realistic landscapes and concise Art Deco designs. Here, he artfully
presents silhouettes in profile reading newspapers. Perhaps the three heads reinforce the newspaper’s
claim of appearing three times a day. The typography is cleverly arranged along two diagonals, which,
along with the people’s faces, helps create intense movement within the image to highlight the mes-
sage. Baumberger 144, Swiss Posters p. 134.
