provides a graphic depiction of grabbing for-
tune with both hands, as illustrative a way as
any to promote the national lottery.

Arnoux was a prolific book illustrator. The few
posters he designed generally fall into one of
two design styles:
images d’epinal
, naive, tradi-
tionalist woodcuts focusing only on a subject’s
positive qualities, and this, a more modernist,
Art Deco style. For this gala for the HEC,
Hautes Etudes Commerciales,
the most presti-
gious French Business School, Arnoux depicts
the mighty ziggurat of the HEC rising above
trade and industry and literally illuminating all
below it.
