Etching and aquatint printed in light brown and black on cream laid paper, 1880. 168x247 mm; 6 3 / 4 x9 3 / 4 inches, full margins. One of only several known lifetime impressions (there was no posthumous edition). Signed in pencil, lower right. A brilliant, richly-inked impression of this exceedingly scarce etching, printed in two tones, with a light brown film of ink in the sky, and black inking throughout the plate, selectively-wiped on the side of the château and along the hillside to create highlights. Delteil cites only 2 known impressions, both signed and inscribed number 1 and 2, which Cailac also cites in his revision of the Delteil catalogue raisonné . There is another signed, unnumbered, impression in the collection at the Kupferstichkabinett, Kunsthalle, Bremen. The current impression sold Kornfeld, Bern, June 1991, lot 878. Delteil 27.
