A superb impression of this extremely scarce print. The figure lower left is a self-portrait of Beckmann (1884-1950), who during 1915 was a volunteer assistant to the medical corps of the German army. His post at the time was Verwicq, Belguim, and he visited Brussels, Lille, Ostende and Ghent, whence the representation of this brothel scene. Hofmaier 85. [4,000/6,000] 403 c MAX BECKMANN Liegende.
