Provenance: the Johnson Publishing Company, Inc., Chicago. This colorful watercolor is the earliest work by this Georgian artist to come to auction. Freddie Styles has been an inf luential artistic figure in Atlanta for decades. A graduate of Morris Brown College, Styles has produced an extensive body of work in abstraction in both painting and collage over his career. He was an artist-in-residence at Clark Atlanta University, Clayton State University and Spelman College, and has been the recipient of numerous purchase awards from the Atlanta Life Insurance Company. He has had numerous solo exhibitions, including at Clark Atlanta University, Hammonds House, Atlanta, Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the Tubman Museum, Macon, GA. His paintings today can be found in the collections of the High Museum, Spelman College Museum of Art, Clark Atlanta University and the Paul R. Jones Collection, University of Delaware. [2,000/3,000]
