Provenance: the Johnson Publishing Company, Inc., Chicago. Ann Tanksley, born in Pittsburgh and now a resident of New York, is a figurative painter and printmaker. A graduate of the Carnegie Institute of Technology (now Carnegie Mellon University) in Pittsburgh, Tanksley also studied at the Art Students League, the Parsons School of Design, the New School for Social Research and the Printmaking Workshop where she learned monotype. One of her most celebrated works is Images of Zora , a large group of 60 monoprints inspired by the writings of Zora Neal Hurston which she exhibited in 1991. She has received several corporate commissions from the Coors Brewing Company, Pepsi Cola Company, Absolut Vodka, and Colgate-Palmolive. Her work can be found in the collections of the Studio Museum in Harlem, the National Museum of Women in the Arts and the Hewitt/ Bank of America Collection. [3,000/5,000]
