Double-page opening illumination in colors and gold, chapter headings similarly decorated; gold roundels between verses. Ruled in gold, red, and blue throughout. 134 leaves, including 13 pages of elaborate calligraphic renderings of the names of Allah, Muhammad, et al. in white and gold on differently colored backgrounds, and 2 full-page painted illustrations in color of Mecca and Medina. 246x158 mm, gilt-tooled leather over pasteboard with stylized latticework design on covers and flap, spine and flap rebacked, both chipped at top and bottom, endpapers renewed; contents clean but with crude marginal restoration on approximately 30 leaves, mainly toward end, not affecting text or images.
