The finely lithographed plates mainly depict scenes in New York State along the Hudson River but extend to include Niagara Falls and other atmospheric vistas in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. The map of the northeastern United States incorporates a numbered list at either side, keying the location of each of the plates in the work to their respective site on the map. 246 247
