Wills’ early displays from the 1960s, which are rendered in black-and-white, are spare and stylish; key lighting is an important element in creating visual drama. His later displays include a host of well-dressed mannequins with Asian, Black, or Caucasian features; tag lines like “The well bred wardrobe” or “The splendor begins” appear as signage. Silver (220) and chromogenic (18) prints, the images measuring 9 3 / 4 x7 3 / 4 inches (24.8x19.7 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, with the photographers’ hand stamps on verso. 1960s-70s.
