Thick elephant folio, 1 / 4 leather, cloth. 1933-36   [1,500/2,500] In the iconography of mug shots, photographs in which alleged con men and crafty criminals are standing are uncommon, and capture the “film noir” nature of police department imagery. 344 345 c   (UNITED STATES INDUSTRIAL REFORMATORY) Archive with over 110 photographs documenting the cellblock construction, onsite hospital, and the various occupations undertaken by the inmate workforce at the U.S. Industrial Reformatory in Chillicothe, Ohio. Including views of the reformatory infrastructure such as the veterans hospital with scenes of the operating room and rehab, kitchens and dining hall, automotive garage, paint shop, metal shop, and prison school. As well as images depicting the administrative buildings, detention center, cellblocks, and watchtowers; and the reformatory farm, complete with various livestock, a piggery, milking barn, and large grainery.
