A set of formal compositions primarily depicting views of bridge and subway track construction, including images made on both the Manhattan and Brooklyn sides, and on the bridge span itself, with many showing workers on site. Cyanotypes, the images measuring approximately 7 1 / 2 x9 1 / 2 inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, each with a number in the negative; all but 8 of the prints with a caption, in ink, and 7 with a small oval Supreme Court hand stamp (3) and/or a Manhattan Bridge Brooklyn Plaza hand stamp (7), on recto. 1913-22 [2,000/3,000] 332 333 c   (LOWER EAST SIDE—NEW YORK CITY) Album containing 62 photographs of the Lower East Side by an unidentified photo­ grapher who has a keen eye for street culture. With bustling scenes of fashionably dressed pedestrians who are set into relief against street peddlers, pictures of bearded Jews, lyrical views of the East River, and marvelous bird’s-eye views of skyscrapers. Silver prints, the images measuring 4x3 inches (10.2x7.6 cm.), the sheets slightly larger, mounted recto/ verso. Oblong 4to, leatherette with a polychromatic painting of birds in flight. 1926 [600/900] Laid in is a handwritten notecard with historical research discovered by the original owner, including the date of the pictures. 333
