Silver print, the image measuring 12 1 / 2 x15 7 / 8 inches (31.8x40.3 cm.), the black exhibition mount 16x20 inches (40.6x50.8 cm.), with Smith’s signature, with a stylus, on print recto, and his credit hand stamp and the title, in pencil, on mount verso. 1950 [12,000/18,000] This print has been in a Private Collection since the early 1970s. The iconic image was originally published in the April 9, 1951 issue of LIFE Magazine as part of Smith’s photo essay “Spanish Village.”
