Born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1974. Trenton Doyle Hancock earned his BFA from Texas A&M University and his MFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, Philadelphia. Using a variety of media, Hancock assembles compositions infused with both personal and cultural mythologies. He references comics and superheroes, pulp fiction and pop cultures in intriguing narratives that play on light and dark, good and evil and everything in between. Hancock has been greatly inf luenced by Hieronymus Bosch, Max Ernst, Henry Darger, Philip Guston and R. Crumb. His work is in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the Studio Museum of Harlem, Dallas Museum of Art and San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
