Washington, 1865 [600/900] A commemoration of what was described as “the first time that the colored people have attempted any celebration of a national character.” Publishes a letter from Frederick Douglass, who says that while he is unable to attend, “the one thought to be deeply emphasized and underscored on that occasion is this: The immediate, complete, and universal enfranchisement of the colored people of the whole country.” 15 c   (BOOKS AND PAMPHLETS.)
