Np, 1865 [300/400] with —a small untitled engraving of the same, 2 inches oval on an 8 1 / 4 x 6 inch sheet. 169 c (SCULPTURE.) Roiné, Jules Édouard; artist. 1809 Abraham Lincoln 1909. Bronze casting, 4 x 2 3 / 4 inches; minimal wear; numbered “107” on bottom edge. [Newark, NJ]: American Numismatic Society, 1909 [700/1,000] Jules Édouard Roiné (1857-1916), born in France and established in New York, was one of leading medalists of the early 20th century. This plaquette was cast by Whitehead & Hoag to help the American Numismatic Society commemorate the centennial of Lincoln’s birth. It shows Lincoln being crowned with a garland by Liberty, similar to the earlier painting “Liberty Crowning her Martyr” (see lot 71). 168
