The author (best known for his work with the Manson family) was granted access to Newton for an interview at the Panther head- quarters, which formed the foundation of the article. The story, heavily edited from this state, ran in the Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine on 6 December 1970 as “Waiting for Huey.” The Hartford Courant ran it three weeks later. 116 116 c   (BLACK PANTHERS.)
