Poster, 35 x 23 inches; spot-mounted into lucite frame on verso, a few tiny flecks of green paint in image area, worn with moderate loss at corners, light wrinkling throughout, a few closed tears and repairs, most notably 4 inches in upper center and lower right of image and 4 inches crossing through panther in lower margin; signed by Newton in upper left: “To Ben, with much love, Huey.” Emeryville, CA: Black Panther Party for Self Defense, [early 1967?] [4,000/6,000] This iconic poster of Huey Newton seated with rifle and spear has clearly been on a few walls.While it is sometimes seen in fresher condition, we have never seen another signed at auction.
