Np, circa 1940s [800/1,200] The artist Loïs Mailou Jones (1905-1998) went to study in France in 1937, where she developed a lifelong friendship with white French artist CélineTabary (1908–1993).Tabary followed Jones back toWashington in 1938, where they taught art classes together through the 1950s.Tabary often delivered work to juries for Jones to subvert ongoing discrimination in the art world.
