Vp, [August 1963] [500/750] Includes a 5-sheet stapled packet for the “Unitarian Universalist March on Washington for Jobs and Free- dom” includes a statement by the church urging its members to participate, a schedule of activities at All Souls Church, a crude map, a list of restaurants, and finally the lyrics to “We Shall Overcome.” The other document is a 3-page summary of “Information for those traveling with the Medical Committee for Civil Rights,” including a schedule, registration form, travel information, and more. 169 c   (CIVIL RIGHTS.) Group of press photographs of the 1964 Harlem riots and other New York actions. 34 photographs, mostly about 8 x 10 inches, a few smaller; various conditions, a few with editing marks; San Francisco Examiner inked stamps and other markings on verso. NewYork, 1964-68 [800/1,200] 26 of these photographs are from the riots which rocked Harlem in July of 1964, sparked by the shooting of 15-year-old James Powell by a policeman. 8 more are from other NewYork protests and events from 1964 through 1968, most notably a shot of Malcolm X’s casket leaving the church in 1965.
