Silver contact print, the image measuring 4 7 / 8 x6 3 / 4 inches (12.4x17.1 cm.), the sheet slightly larger, with Hine’s Interpretive Photography, Hastings-on-Hudson hand stamp and his title, date, and numeric notations, in pencil, on verso. My child labor photographs have already set the authorities to work to see ‘if such things can be possible.’ They try to get around them by crying ‘FAKE,’ but therein lies the value of data and a witness.
