Chromogenic print, the image measuring 11x14 inches (27.9x35.6 cm.), the original Crescent Illustration board 16x20 inches (40.6x50.8 cm.), with Anders’ inscription, in a felt tip pen, on recto. 1968 [3,000/4,500] Apollo 8’s three-astronaut crew, Commander Frank Borman, Command Module Pilot James Lovell, and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders, experienced several firsts in flight: they were the first humans to travel beyond the Earth’s orbit, the first to see Earth as a whole planet, the first to directly see the far side of the Moon, and the first to witness Earthrise. 289 290 290 c   (TELEVISION—SPACE EXPLORATION) Album with 156 screenshot photographs depicting Apollo Missions 15 to 17 during live TV broadcasts. The photographs show various stages of the missions including lift-off, touch-down, scientific sampling, and splashdown. Also present are a handful of images showing lunar related television shows and documentaries recorded for playback, identified by the words “videotape” across the CRT screen. One photograph shows a pixelated “First Man on the Moon” postage stamp.
