273 c   (BENGAL STEELWORKS CONSTRUCTION) A thick album entitled Steel Corporation of Bengal Ltd., Napuria Works with approximately 155 rich photographs documenting the construction of the Napuria plant by Burn & Company of Calcutta. Featuring sharp images depicting hoards of construction workers preparing foundations and erecting frameworks for factory buildings, including mill houses, power houses, gas and cooling towers, melting shops, a Dolomite plant, and more. Also present are two large panoramas illustrating the vast expanse of the entire plant. Silver prints, the images measuring 6 1 / 4 x8 1 / 8 inches (15.9x20.6 cm.), with two measuring 6x27 3 / 4 and 6x47 3 / 4 inches (15.2x70.5 and 15.2x121.3 cm.), nearly all mounted recto/verso to black pages, the panoramas with the photographer’s hand stamp on verso, most with captions, and all with dates, in white ink, on pages. Oblong 4to, black leatherette with debossed gilt-lettering; twin-bolt binding. 1938-39 [1,500/2,500] 274 c   ( JAPANESE HYDROGEN INDUSTRY) A handmade presentation album with 34 photographs illustrating the various production stages, different locations at the plant, and the business premises of the Japan Hydrogen Industry Company. With modernist views of pyrite roasters, ammonia sulphate storage, an acid cooler, and CO converters, as well as multiple images depicting men at work in the plant. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 5 1 / 2 x4 1 / 2 inches (14x11.4 cm.), and the reverse, mounted recto only, 2 per page, each with typed captions on rice paper, in Japanese and English, affixed on the opposite page.
