355 355 c   RAY HAND (active 1940s) Archive of 260 Pictorialist prints by this Nyack, NY-based photographer, comprising 175 medium-and 85 large-format photographs. The larger images include “the most beautiful girl in Rockland County” and many studies of pretty women; the medium-format images depict fun images of kids, scenes of the Greenwich Village art show, and more. Silver prints, the images measuring 8x10 to 13x10 inches (20.3x25.4 to 33x25.4 cm.); 78 of the larger prints are on the original mounts measuring 20x16 inches (50.8x40.6 cm.), 70 are signed and dated, in pencil, on mount recto, and many with handwritten notations, in pencil, on mount verso. 1942-49 AND—A binder entitled Pictorials with 85 photographs by an unidentified photographer. A range of images are presented including a photogram, scenes of New York City, a series of a burning building, and picturesque landscapes. Silver prints, 3 1 / 2 x4 1 / 2 inches (8.9x11.4 cm.). 1940s. [1,000/1,500] 356 c   (NEWS COLLAGES) A group of 13 oversized collaged press prints and panoramas, several with graphic lettering and/or airbrushing. Comprising multi-panel panoramas including Scrap for U.S. Arms, a 1940s Detroit, Michigan musician’s union rally, the National Spelling Bee of 1935, and 2 prints with extensive retouching and collaging depicting supply rationing during World War II. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 4x18 1 / 8 to 11x24 inches (10.2x46 to 27.9x61 cm.), with cropping notations, in grease pencil, and/or notations and hand stamps on verso. 1932-60s   [600/900] 356
