With industrial scenes reminiscent of photo graphs made by Charles Sheeler depicting billowing smoke stacks, rolling mill interiors, and sawtooth factory roofs; 8 of the photo graphs pertain to the American Rolling Mill Company. Silver prints, the images measuring approximately 7 1 / 2 x9 1 / 2 inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), and one the reverse, each with notations in the negative identifying the location, company, inventory number, and some with the date. Circa 1921-30 WITH—A photographic copy of a letter from the president of the American Rolling Mill Company of Middletown, Ohio, to a business acquaintance in New York. Showing example images of machines digging at quarries and mines; formal and abstract compositions of the machinery; and well-composed still lifes of various equipment in the workshop.
