340 340 c (COLBURN MACHINE TOOL COMPANY) A photographer’s master book con taining 44 photographs, including photo montages, of machinists at work in the company factories located in Franklin, Pennsylvania. With a number of modernist photomontages showing the before and after of products; views of a selection of the equipment available; and workmen lathing, drilling, and milling metal blocks and components. Silver prints, the images measuring 7x9 inches (17.8x22.9 cm.), linen-backed, approximately half with typed captions on verso, and nearly all with an inventory number in the negative. 4to, brown leatherette, typed label affixed to spine; twin-bolt binding. 1919-20 [1,000/1,500] 341 c (B.F. GOODRICH COMPANY) An engineer’s album with 37 photographs documenting the expansion and construc tion of the B.F. Goodrich plant in Akron, Ohio, including views of the historic smoke stacks. The photographs document the construction of “Building 9-X,” from the foundation to near completion, with chronological construc tion views and interior scenes showing barrels and packages of what are presumed to be raw materials. Silver prints, the images measuring 9 1 / 2 x7 1 / 2 inches (24.1x19.1 cm.), some slightly smaller, and the reverse, linen- backed, and most with notations or dates in the negative.
