Circa 1923 [6,000/9,000] The beautiful and talented Rosa Rolande was a prominent dancer with the Ziegfeld Follies. In 1924 she married Miguel Covarrubias, the renowned Mexican painter, caricaturist, and art historian, who became a successful set and theatre designer. Together the two were an internationally sought after couple whose circle of friends included Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera, the philanthropist and art collector Nelson Rockefeller, the playwright Eugene O’Neill, as well as Tina Modotti and Edward Weston. 158
