“
Except for your personal participation, the Garden show last night would never have been the bril-
liant success that everybody today is according it. It is my misfortune that I am never allowed to see
the interesting parts of these political rallies, but your talent and obvious sincerity deeply impressed all
my friends who were lucky enough to see you.”
On October 30, 1952, days before Eisenhower was elected president, a rally was held by the New
York Republican County Committee at Madison Square Garden, at which General Eisenhower
addressed the audience. It is likely that one of the songs Irving Berlin composed for the use of
Eisenhower’s campaign was performed at the rally:“They Like Ike,” or “I Still Like Ike,” or “Ike For
Four MoreYears.”
