A New Orleans native, printmaker Sue Smock’s art reflects her rich family heritage and a long
interest in non-Western imagery in printmaking. Smock has had a distinguished career as a
printmaker and art professor, culminating in her appointment as the chairperson of the Department
of Fine Arts at Lincoln University. Her prints are in the collection of the California African-
American Museum, the Amistad Research Center, the New Orleans Museum of Art and the
Smithsonian American Art Museum.
