A scarce poster from pioneer black filmmaker
Spencer Williams. Dirty Gertie was a re-work-
ing of the film “Rain” based on the Somerset
Maugham story of that name. Williams (1893
- 1969) is probably best known to the general
public for playing Andy in the Amos ‘n Andy
television show.
