April through August of 1967
[1,500/2,500]
A series of edited pages from Martin Luther King Jr.’s book “Where Do We Go From Here.”
Each page bears a hand written ink heading: “Racism, War and Capitalism,” “Reform vs
Revolution,” “On Non Violence,” “America’s Rural Dilemma,” and “Beyond Viet Nam.”
All of the latter discuss what was happening from April to August of 1967. Together with
these pages, are a group of ten additional ribbon copies of pages, plus 12 pages with heavy edit-
ing (photo-copied); all are describing the situation in Selma, (and Washington) circa March of
1965, preparatory to the first Selma-Montgomery March. Provenance: All of this material
comes from the files of Martin Luther King Jr.’s literary agent, Joan Daves (now deceased). The
handwriting on some of the 1967 pages looks a bit like King’s but is more likely to have been
someone in Daves’ office.
