The dynamic cover art for the tween time travel fantasy novel about an eleven-year-old London girl
kidnapped in 1939 from the London Blitz toTime City, a place that exists in space and time outside
history, to save it from destruction. This work, as with most of Bowers’s paintings, shows his masterly
technique of alla prima, the blending of wet on wet pigments and glazing, a style developed in 15th
century Netherlands. It creates a luminosity without visible brushstrokes, resulting in an airbrushed look.
