Includes detailed scenes of the construction of the Van Buren St. commuter rail station. With images of workers implementing the "cut-and-cover" subway building system including shots of open excavation sites, men building the tunnel structure with wood and steel materials, and the final product of enclosed, tiled hallways. Silver prints, the images measuring 7½x9½ inches (19.1x24.1 cm.), the sheets slightly larger, linen backed, with captions and dates in the negative, and a few with an Illinois Central Railroad Co. hand stamp or a date hand stamp, on mount verso.
