An archive of 42 Boston Herald press photographs showing both victims and responders to the AIDS epidemic.
Including images of researchers, patients that have died, mourners next to memorial quilts, infected children with their adoptive parents, arrested AIDS Brigade volunteers, and more. The archive captures the severe reality of the epidemic, but also the hope and strength of the affected community. Silver (38) and chromogenic (4) prints, the images measuring approximately 9½x7½ inches (24.1x19.1 cm.), and slightly smaller, and the reverse, the sheets 10x8 inches (25.4x20.3 cm.), most with an affixed Boston Herald caption slip with a typewritten photographer credit, date, and caption, and some with various date and copyright hand stamps. 1985-96
