A vast archive with prints depicting John Glenn, Neil Armstrong, and Scott Carpenter. The group includes photographs of satellites awaiting launch; some images made from orbiting aircraft; rockets ready to launch; astronauts performing flight tests; survival training in the jungles of Panama and the deserts of Nevada; behind the scenes views at headquarters, scientists at work; a series documenting tropical survival training; and artist renderings of aircraft launches and missions (including some futuristic views of the future of space travel). Also includes three chromogenic prints, one from Apollo 11. Silver prints, the images measuring 8x10 inches (20.3x25.4 cm.) and slightly smaller, and the reverse, with various N.A.S.A. hand stamps, other identifying hand stamps, typed captions, clipped captions, and/or notations, in pencil or in ink, on verso; enclosed in contemporary binders. 1959-75
