A charming album with approximately 44 photographs from Elkes Biscuits Factory.
A compelling look inside a biscuit factory, featuring images that highlight both the worker experience and a regimented and systematized assembly line. Images include the bustling assembly line of "factory girls" as well as the machinery used to produce the sweet treats. Showing the various stages of production, the exterior building (including an Elkes delivery truck and the surrounding fields), the lunch room, medical staff on hand for the workers (as well as what appears to be a pedicure in process), and even a visit from Joan Collins. Silver prints, the images measuring 4¼x6 inches (10.8x15.2 cm.), and the reverse, each with a local photographer's hand stamp on verso. 12mo, paper covers with the printed title (in blue), lightly worn; twin-bolt binding. 1950s
