An album of the Hull-Rust-Mahoning Open Pit Iron Mine with approximately 50 photographs detailing the mining process form start to finish.
At the time, the Mahoning was the largest open pit mine in the world and is now a National Historic Landmark. The album includes images of drilling to locate ore, surface stripping land with steam shovels, men packing trains with ore, the loading process at the harbor, and finally the steel company receiving the ore. Silver prints, the images measuring 7x9 inches (17.8x22.9 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets slightly larger, mounted recto verso, each with a typewritten caption on the mount. Oblong 4to, black leatherette; twin-bolt binding. 1907-08
